PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate making method for a planographic printing plate by which plate making speed is increased and device setting space can be reduced. SOLUTION: In the plate making method, the photosensitive surface of an original plate of a planographic printing plate is exposed (recorded) by a raster scanning system, the original plate is fixed in an exposure position, principal scanning is carried out by beam scanning and subsidiary scanning is carried out by moving a principal scanning optical system. Plural scanning exposure devices in which subsidiary scanning is carried out by moving the principal scanning optical system are arranged in series, the original plate is supplied from a stocker, subsidiary scanning is synchronously carried out by the plural scanning exposure devices through a common subsidiary scanning mechanism and the same image information is exposed (recorded) at that same time.
