The seat for a motor vehicle has a backrest and a headrest pivotally mounted to the backrest. The headrest mounting (4) is formed as a chain with rotatably mounted links (22). The links form wedge shaped gaps between them to receive springs. The links are connected by a traction cable (6). The traction cable is actuated to move the mounting in opposition to the springs.
