The invention relates to a method for carrying out an auction on the internet with an auctioneer present at the auction site, with live bidders gathered in person at the auction site, and with locally distant online bidders that are connected via the Internet. An audio-visual recording of at least the auctioneer is made during the auction and is displayed at least via the internet for the online bidders on their computers (live-streaming). The bids of the live bidders and the bids of the online bidders are linked rapidly and stepwise on the computer system and an actual highest bid of the live bidders and the online bidders is simultaneously visualized on a screen for the live bidders at the auction site and displayed via the internet for the online bidders on their computers.
