HIGH-BARRIER COATING, COATING COMPOSITION, AND PACKAGING MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-barrier coating which, though using a polyalcohol as a constituting material, is excellent in retorting resistance and oxygen barrier properties and is friendly to the environment; and a packaging material using the same. SOLUTION: This high-barrier coating comprises a crosslinked polyalcohol, has a hydroxyl group content in the range of 0.98-1.4 based on the hydroxyl group content of theoretical polyvinylalcohol (the saponification ratio is 100%) as the standard (1.0), and is crosslinked so that the extraction ratio after retorting at 120 deg.C for 30 min is 4 wt.% or lower.
