PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval service device which can securely provide information that a user desires without performing any high-level processing with a heavy load. SOLUTION: This retrieval service device is equipped with a database which is systemized in hierarchical tree structure and classifies and stores records in many bottom-layer categories, a category retrieval reporting means which sends a written category retrieval report in specific format generated by retrieval from the database based upon a retrieval word received from an accessing user computer to the user computer, and a related category specifying means which extracts a category including the retrieval word and specifies categories related to the category according to a category correspondence table; and the category retrieval reporting means enters the positions of the category including the retrieval word and the related categories in the tree structure into the written category report.
