摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sharpness without changing edging or color saturation ratio. SOLUTION: This processor has a pixel deciding means 66 and a pixel correcting means 68. The pixel deciding means 66 is composed of a concerned pixel detecting means for detecting a concerned pixel having a peak level in an input video signal, an edge detecting means for detecting an edge, which is away from the concerned pixel for (n) pixels (n>=1), existent before or after, and a correction coefficient selecting means for selecting a peak level correction coefficient with the output of the concerned pixel deciding means and selecting an edge correction coefficient with the output of edge detection. In the pixel correcting means, the level of the concerned pixel is corrected by the peak level correction coefficient in respect to the pixel of the input video signal and the edge of the input video signal is corrected by the edge correction coefficient. By selecting the correction coefficient corresponding to a video pattern, excessive correction can be prevented so that sharpness can be improved without changing the color saturation ratio or the like.
