PURPOSE:To ensure favorable image quality on a transfer surface of a recording paper, by setting feeding velocities of the recording paper and an ink sheet to be constant values nearly equal to those at the time of transfer. CONSTITUTION:When the recording paper 1 and a position (b) of the ink sheet 2 are brought to the position of a thermal head 6, transferring in yellow is conducted on the paper 1, and a detecting means 8 outputs a transfer completion signal on detecting a mark 3a. On receiving the signal, a controlling means 10 controls a take-up roller 4 and a platen roller 5 to feed the paper 1 and the sheet 2 at a fixed velocity JX approximately equal to the feeding velocity J at the time of transfer until the paper 1 and a position (c) of the sheet 2 come to the position of the head 6, and then the velocity JX is decelerated to a velocity J2. During the movement of the paper 1 and the sheet 2 from the position (b) to the position (c), the transfer surface of the paper 1 and an ink surface 3 of the sheet 2 are completely released from each other. Accordingly, undesired forces are prevented from being exerted at the time of release of the transfer surface of the paper 1 and the ink surface of the sheet 2, and nonuniformity of color on the paper 1 and wrinkling of the sheet 2 are prevented from being generated. |
