PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a property of engine exhaust in a period when an engine is started under its cold condition and where an effective exhaust emission control function is not effectuated yet in a catalytic converter, by making the best use of a characteristic of a hybrid vehicle combined with engine drive and motor drive. SOLUTION: The engine is operated stably by a warming-up target output Lestart, while output requirement to the vehicle is mainly entrusted to a motor and its fluctuation is exclusively to the motor, until the first stage catalytic converter provided just in a downstream of an exhaust manifold reaches to a prescribed warming-up degree T1. The engine is operated increasing an output increasing speed in response to requirement, while limiting the output increasing speed within an increment ΔLelimit or an increase rate Kelimit, until the second stage catalytic converter reaches to a prescribed warming-up degree T2 after the first stage catalytic converter reaches to the prescribed warming-up degree, or until a time Co estimated as establishment of the condition therein is expected passes, and an amount of fuel is thereafter increased or decreased according to control calculation based on an input data to be operated. |
