PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the seal durability of a metal gasket by preventing fretting wear effectively. SOLUTION: A composite material for metal gasket is equipped with a metal plate, a rubber layer attached as covering the surface of the metal plate, and a solid lubricant layer attached onto the rubber layer, wherein the solid lubricant layer chiefly containing polytetrafluoroethylene and a resin and its friction coefficient is not more than 0.15.
