PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more accurately estimate the temperature of a catalyst for exhaust gas emission control, even when the temperature of the catalyst for exhaust gas emission control is not detected directly. SOLUTION: This catalyst-temperature estimating device, which is provided in an exhaust passage 3 of an internal combustion engine and estimates the temperature of the catalyst 6 for exhaust gas emission control for purifying a harmful substances matters in the exhaust gas, is provided with a temperature detection means 9 which is provided in the exhaust passage 3 on the upstream side of the catalyst 6 for exhaust gas emission control and detects an exhaust gas temperature and a control means 20 for estimating the temperature of the catalyst 6 for exhaust gas emission control based on the exhaust gas temperature detected by the temperature detection means 9, by taking into consideration the time response difference based on heat capacity of the catalyst between the exhaust gas temperature detected by the temperature detection means 9 and the temperature of the catalyst 6 for exhaust emission control. |
