MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium realizing high durability, high smoothness and uniform thickness of a magnetic layer and having significantly excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has a nonmagnetic layer containing at least nonmagnetic powder and at least one magnetic layer containing ferromagnetic powder and a binder in this order on a supporting body. The binder included in at least the magnetic layer is prepared by using a compound having 200 to 1000 mol.wt. and having heterocycles containing nitrogen and radiation-setting functional groups with three or more functional groups and hardening the compound by irradiation of rays. The compound having radiation-setting functional groups is used by 5 to 30 parts by mass to 100 parts by mass of the ferromagnetic powder.
