PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally expandable microcapsule having excellent durability at high temperatures, and achieving a high expansion ratio, and to provide a method for producing the thermally expandable microcapsule.SOLUTION: The thermally expandable microcapsule is obtained by using an oily composition including a polymerizable monomer containing a nitrile-based monomer; an organic peroxide having t-butyl in the molecule; and a volatile blowing agent. In the thermally expandable microcapsule, the content of the organic peroxide having the t-butyl in the molecule is 20-60 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the polymerizable monomer, and the gel fraction of a shell part is ≥30%. |
