Several foods products (8,8'), e.g. cheese etc., are moved parallel to high-speed slicers. Each product has an associated product holder (5,5'), and all holders are moved synchronously by a common base drive. One of the holders is subjected to an additional movement superposed by an auxiliary drive (7). The max. distance of the additional movement is only a fraction of the movement distance generated by the base drive. The base drive only is operated for empty slicing steps. One or both drives are supplied with control signals for changes in advance dependent upon product weight.
