PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device for stably controlling the position with respect to a target in conveyance system control, which has influence by the dead zone characteristics and the residual vibration. SOLUTION: As a configuration for a recording device, an automatic controlling part for outputting a driving motor operation amount by proportional, integral or differential operation of deviation information of position information by encoder counting and a target amount as the recording medium conveyance amount at the time of conveying a recording medium is provided. Furthermore, a controlling method calculating mechanism in combination with a sliding mode controlling part with a state of a subject to be controlled provided preliminarily as the reference for switching between the automatic controlling part and a sliding mode control, is provided.
