PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability by eliminating dew condensation even if conditions differ due to the amount of garbage and preventing deterioration such as rust and corrosion from occurring in a garbage-treating machine that dries and treats garbage that is generated in a kitchen for general home or business. SOLUTION: It is judged that a constant degree of drying is obtained in garbage when the temperature of exhaust from a drying chamber decreases by a specific value from the peak, the required time until a constant degree of drying is obtained in the garbage after operation is started is clocked by a clocking means 16, and the temperature of a heating means for heating the garbage is controlled by a control means 17 according to the length of time that is clocked by the clocking means 16. The heating means 2 is set to temperature where the amount of heat for vaporizing water from the garbage is obtained until a prescribed time passes. Then, after the prescribed time, the heating means 2 is set to temperature for obtaining the amount of heat for vaporizing water that is condensed in the drying chamber, and operation time after the prescribed time is controlled according to the length of the prescribed time.
