摘要 PURPOSE: A method for detecting a header area of an optical recording medium and a recording and playing method using the same, are provided to generate a signal indicating a header area from a TE(Tracking Error) signal detected through a DPD(Differential Phase Detection) method, so as to control the recording and playing of an optical disk. CONSTITUTION: An upper slicing unit(302) and a lower slicing unit(303) slice the DPD signal(DPD_TE) to a preset upper and lower slice level respectively, and removes a glitch. An L/G(Land/Groove) signal generator(304) compares the phases of an output signal(DPD_IP1) of the upper slicing unit(302) and an output signal(DPD_IP2) of the lower slicing unit(303). An HDM(Header Mask) generator(305) generates an HDM signal from the output signal(DPD_IP1) and the output signal(DPD_IP2). A PP(Push Pull) signal generator(306) receives the electric signals of a, b, c, and d output in the light detector, to detect a TE(Tracking Error) signal(PP_TE) through a PP method. A TE sample and hold unit(307) samples and holds the PP signal(PP_TE) in accordance with the HDM signal output from the HDM generator(305). A TZC(Tracking Zero Cross) generator(202) generates a TZC signal from the TE signal output from the TE sample and hold unit(307). A counter(309) counts TZC signals generated in the TZC generator(308). An FE(Focus Error) signal generator(310) receives the electric signals of a, b, c, and d output in the light detector, to detect an FE signal. An FE sample and hold unit(311) samples and holds the FE signal in accordance with the HDM signal. And a controller(312) receives the L/G discriminating signal, HDM signal, TE or sample and hold TE signal, FE or sample and hold FE signal, counted track number, etc, to control the recording and playing of an optical disk and track jump of the optical disk.
