摘要 The invention a method for isolating substantially purified cells and cell lines. Cells or tissue (for example, tumor tissue) from a donor animal is xenografted into a recipient transgenic immunodeficient animal which has been genetically engineered to exhibit a selectable trait. Upon removal of the donor cells from the recipient animal, the cells are placed in culture under conditions that allow contaminating recipient cells to be distinguished from donor cells by means of the selectable trait. This allows the removal of the contaminating recipient cells, resulting in a substantially pure culture of donor cells. A population of substantially pure cells, cell lines and vaccines made from such cells, and a method of testing compounds using such cells, are also provided.
