PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitive material which suppresses deterioration of graininess due to radiation and has improved sensitivity to radiation fog ratio. SOLUTION: The silver halide photosensitive material has one or more photosensitive silver halide emulsion layers on the base and one or more of the emulsion layers contain a silver halide emulsion, in which the ratio of (the number of silver halide grains having two or more development starting points per one grain) to (the number of silver halide grains having one or more development starting points per one grain) is <=45%, when the sensitive material is subjected to irradiation with radiation and subsequent development under the following conditions; in the irradiation,γ-rays emitted from Co60 are radiated in such a dose that 50-55% by the number of grains in the photosensitive silver halide emulsion layers have one or more development starting points; and development conditions color development, 1 min (38 deg.C); stop: 30 sec (20 deg.C); a color developing solution used comprises monomethyl-p-aminophenol sulfate (2.5 g); L-ascorbic acid (10.0 g); sodium metaborate tetrahydrate (3.5 g); KBr (1.0 g) and H2O (1 l); and stop solution: a 3% aqueous acetic acid solution.
