PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit and method that can conduct the same interpolation processing independently of interpolation position. SOLUTION: A dummy video signal by two pixels is respectively written to upper/lower/left/right parts of a data area (real image area) to which the video signal is written in a valid access area of a buffer so as to set an out-area data band (black area).
