PURPOSE: A fluorinated polyether having a perfluoro aliphatic group and an optical waveguide using the polyether are provided, to reduce the loss due to optical advance and reflection, to improve the heat stability and the chemical resistance, and to allow the refractive index to be controlled finely. CONSTITUTION: The fluorinated polyether comprises a fluorinated aliphatic group in the main chain and is represented by the formula 1, wherein x=0.1-1.0; y=1.0-x; n is an integer of 1-12; B is null or -C=O-; Hal is F, Cl, Br or I; D is -C(CF3)2-, -C(CH3)2-, -CO-, -SO2-, -O- or -S-; R1 and R2 are independent each other and are H, F, Cl, Br or I; m is an integer of 1-3; and P is H or a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group. The optical waveguide comprising a lower cladding layer formed on a substrate; a core layer formed on the lower cladding layer; and an upper cladding layer formed on the core layer, wherein the cladding and core layers comprises the fluorinated polyether. |
