The insulation element comprises two cover plates (1, 2) with a visible surface and made from plastics , and a core (3) of fire-retardant heat-insulating material. On the inner edges the cover plates each have an angular strip each with a smooth arm (4, 5) and a profiled arm (6, 7) so that the smooth arm serves to fix on the cover plate whilst the profiled arm of one strip has a half grooved profile and the profiled arm of the other strip has a half tongue profile so that they complete the profile when fitted together with similar cover plates.
