PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a substituent of a BPA-type epoxy resin having functions equal or superior to the BPA-type epoxy resin and higher safety; and to provide a resin composition prepared by using the substituent, having high safety, excellent in coating film's physical properties such as processability and retort resistance, and suitable for the use in can coating. SOLUTION: The purpose is achieved by the following: a resin composition obtained though phosphoric acid esterification of a modified resin having a structure formed by reacting a novolak-type epoxy resin with a monovalent activated hydrogen compound; and an (aqueous) resin composition containing the modified resin phosphoric ester, an acrylic resin and/or a polyester resin, and an amino resin.
