PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a (2S,4R)-N,N-dimethyl-1- allyloxycarbonyl-4-X-2-pyrrolidinecarboxamide (X is an alkanesulfonyloxy or an arynesulfonyloxy) in high yield. SOLUTION: This compound is obtained by reacting trans-1- allyloxycarbonyl-4-hydroxy-L-proline with sulfonic chloride in the presence of a base, reacting the resultant with dimethylamine followed by reacting the obtained reaction mixture with sulfonic chloride and reacting with dimethylamine.
