PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of a matrix switch having redundant constitution. SOLUTION: A demultiplexer 14 divides a plurality of input light beams into two and applies them to the corresponding input ports of the matrix switches 10a and 10b. The active matrix switch 10a connects the desired input and output port and a light shutter 30a connected to an output port #1 goes into light transmission state. The matrix switch 10b connects all the input ports #1 to #8 to the output port #1 and a light shutter 30b connected to the output port #1 goes into light-shielding state. A multiplexer 26 multiplexes the light beams outputted from the output ports #1 of the matrix switches 10a and 10b and transmitted through the light shutters 30a and 30b, and multiplexes the output light beams of the corresponding output ports #2 to #8 of the matrix switches 10a and 10b.
