PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing service system and a method for providing information capable of promptly providing local area information satisfying the desire of a user even in a local area which the user of a portable communication terminal does not well acquainted with the area. SOLUTION: In the information providing service system obtained by connecting a portable terminal 4 and an order-receiving center server 1 through a network, the server 1 receives desired information 40 including moving state information transmitted from the terminal 4 in the middle of moving on a vehicle 44, etc., and retrieves in which store the inventory of desired merchandise included in the information 40 exists from inventory information 16f. When the information 40 can be answered at the retrieved store, the server 1 transmits answer information including providing-place information on the merchandise to the terminal 4. When the user of the terminal 4 agrees to the transmitted information 41, the server 1 provides and settles the merchandise. |
