MOLD CLAMPING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold clamping device which shows the output of a high mold clamping force for the small size of the device while the sufficient saving of energy is realized and dispenses with the actuation of a hydraulic pressure to a mold clamping pressurizing mechanism during a mold release operation. SOLUTION: A fixed platen and a movable platen which are connected by tie rods and receive a mold to be mounted on the platens are made to open/close the mold by a motor ball screw mechanism. The movable platen is constituted of a platen body and a pressurizing plate fitted in such a way that it comes into contact with and separates from the platen body. The mold is clamped between the platen body and the pressurizing plate with the help of a bag into which a hydraulic oil for mold clamping is introduced for expansion and shrinkage. The bag incorporates an insert of an equal shape to the internal shape of the bag and a hydraulic passage is formed in the insert. In addition a braking means is provided which restrains the rotation while supporting the ball screw member of the motor ball screw mechanism in such a manner that the member is removable in the axial direction and further, a mold release cylinder mechanism is connected to the braking means. The mold release cylinder mechanism is activated by making it share a hydraulic pressure supply source with the bag and switching the hydraulic passage.
