An internal combustion engine comprises a combustion chamber, catalytically active materials having suitable thermal stability and catalytic activity being localized on internal wall surfaces into said combustion chamber; an oxide layer, chosen from reducible oxides (TiO2, Nb2O5, Sb2O5, SnO2 and CeO2), is synthesized as support for the catalyst.
