PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new electromagnetic wave absorber that has a light weight, durability, and a superior electromagnetic wave absorbing characteristics over a wide band. SOLUTION: Conductive fibers are scattered in a foamed glass material. Since the foamed glass material is excellent in strength and durability, the foaming ratio of the material can be increased. When the foaming ratio is increased, not only the weight of the material is reduced, but also the pore (foam) portion of the material increases. Consequently, the reflection of electromagnetic waves by the conductive fibers becomes smaller and the electromagnetic wave absorbing effect of the material is improved over a wide band.
