A heating boiler 1 has a feed 2 and a return 3. The boiler heating surface is formed by a flame tube 8 and a flue pipe 10. The combustion gases are conducted to the chimney via a rear header 4. A turning chamber door 5 through which the combustion gases flow to the flue pipe after leaving the flame tube 8, and also a burner 6 with an extended burner pipe 7, are arranged on the front side of the heating boiler 1. The combustion chamber is closed by the flame tube 8 and a rear flame tube floor 11, and an annular outflow opening 12 around the burner pipe 7 for the combustion gases is formed in a combustion chamber floor 13 by a ring 9 connected to an outer boiler front wall 14. The combustion gases form an envelope flow directed rearward and sheathing the flame 17. <IMAGE>
