PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for detecting load currents whereby the load current can be detected on the basis of an output voltage of an operational amplifier even when an offset of the output voltage of the operational amplifier is negative. SOLUTION: The operational amplifier 4 amplifies an input differential voltage generated in accordance with the load current I1. A correcting part 5 detects the load current I1 on the basis of the output voltage V1 of the operational amplifier 4. The output voltage V1 when the load current I0 is not generated because of a resistance R2 becomes positive. The correcting part 5 detects the load current I0 on the basis of a voltage obtained by subtracting the output voltage V1 when the load current I0 is not generated from the output voltage V1 of the operational amplifier 4.
