PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarbonate resin very narrow in a molecular-weight distribution, having almost no low molecular-weight oligomer, modified in a molecular terminal and excellent in heat stability, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: This terminal-modified polycarbonate resin is obtained by reacting a carbonate raw material with a hidroxy compound, wherein the ratio (Mw/Mn) of a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) to the number-average morecular weight (mn), converted by polystyrene determined by gel permeation chromatography, is 2.2 or below, and further the ratio (Mv/Mn') of a viscocity- average molecular weight (Mv) to the number-average molecular weight (Mn') calculated from the number of molecular terminals, is 1.40 or below.
