A method and apparatus for transmitting digital data over a twisted pair copper wire using telephone load coils (1-8) are described. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the digital data is transmitted over the loaded twisted copper wires using a differential voltage, frequency offset, OOK transmission system that may include transceivers (102), twisted pair couplers (104), buffers (101), clocks, serial controllers, filters, oscillators (103), various interfaces and analog-to-digital (ADC) and digital-to-analog (DAC) converters.
