APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING UPGRADE OF BROADCASTING CHANNEL SOFTWARE

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling upgrade of broadcasting channel software are provided to upgrade software changed in all multiplex channels regardless of the channel currently viewed by a user by adding a tuner for upgrading the software. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling upgrade of broadcasting channel software includes the first tuner(202), the second tuner(207), a data extractor(208), a memory(209), and a controller(206). The first tuner selects a broadcasting signal of a frequency band corresponding to a channel tuned by the first control signal from broadcasting signals received from an antenna and demodulates the selected broadcasting signal to output the signal to a digital signal processor. The second tuner selects a broadcasting signal of a frequency band corresponding to a channel tuned by the second control signal and demodulates the selected signal. The data extractor extracts channel software from the demodulated broadcasting signal output from the second tuner. The memory stores the channel software. The controller generates the first control signal for tuning a channel corresponding to a channel selection instruction of a user and the second control signal for searching multiplex channels, and updates the channel software.
