<p>Power train (1) comprises engine (2), transmission, (3), water jet (4), and sandwich power take off (PTO) (5). PTO output shaft (6) is enclosed by chain case (7), and drives shaft (8), which runs below or alongside engine oil sump (12); or through the sump in a tunnel or recess (11). A decoupler (9) may be provided in the marine drive. Transfer case (13) transfers drive power from transmission (3) to output shaft (14), which drives drive shaft (15) and rear wheel differential (16). Four wheel drive may be provided, with additional forward drive shaft (19) and differential (20) (figure 2). A centre differential may be provided in or adjacent to the transfer case; transmission (3) may be manual, sequential shift, semi-automatic, automatic, or a CVT (continuously variable transmission). The marine drive may be a jet drive, as shown, or a screw propeller, or other marine propulsion means.</p> |
