VARISTOR AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a varistor which is made to display PTC characteristics so as to be protected against thermal breakdown. SOLUTION: A ceramic element 2 containing zinc oxide as a main component and Bi as an auxiliary component, and electrodes 1 are provided to the surfaces of the ceramic element 2 with a certain space for the formation of a varistor. The varistor displays PTC characteristics in a temperature range below a thermal breakdown temperature.
