PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder allowing rapid and easy replacement of a sorting plate capable of simplifying a structure, and applicable to generate paper feeders not having a sliding surface body on a swing table. SOLUTION: In this paper feeder, a sheet stacked on a paper feed table 2 is passed, before feeding, through a clearance between a paper feed roller 3 and a sorting plate 11 disposed opposedly to the outer peripheral surface of the paper feed roller, a support plate 12 having a hooking piece 14 installed at the rear part thereof projectedly downward is fixed to the lower surface of the sorting plate 11 so as to form a sorting plate unit 10. A recessed upwardly opened hole 31 allowing the lower part of the sorting plate unit 10 to be engaged and disengaged therefrom and a locking piece 35 engaged with the front part of the sorting plate unit 10 and a locking piece 33 engaged with the hooking piece 14 are provided, at the time of the fitting to the recessed hole 31, on the swing table 30 supported swingably about an axis 22 in parallel with the center axis of the paper feed roller 3. The sorting plate unit 10 is installed detachably on the swing table 30.
