PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a depth gauge capable of regulating the depth of a bottomed hole formed by a hand-held tool device so as to set a fixed element, on the basis of data related to the fixed element. SOLUTION: This depth gauge 1 for regulating the depth of the bottomed hole formed by the hand-held tool device 2 is provided with a rod 3 allowed to move in parallel to a tool axis A within a specified range so as to adjust the effective length, and having sufficient bending stiffness to a buckling load. A control motor 5 to which energy is supplied from an energy source 4 is disposed in connection with the rod 3, and the control motor 5 is connected to a microprocessor 6 with a length sensor 10 and a sending/receiving unit 7. A distinguishing means 8 provided on the fixed element 9 within a communication range can be distinguished by the sending/receiving unit 7 without contacting. In connection with the fixed element 9 set in the bottomed hole, the effective length L of the rod 3 can be adaptively controlled by the microprocessor 6 and the control motor 5.
