PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing a pharmaceutical composition containing melanin, a melanin precursor, a melanin derivative, a melanin analog or melanin-relating substance and effective for increasing the melanin concentration in the central nervous system(CNS) of a patient. SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of mammals affected by tissue diseases exhibiting melanin-deficient symptom is produced by producing a melanin analog in a growth culture medium.
