PURPOSE: A duplex ATM router device using cell buses of an ATM system is provided to double routing throughout of the cell buses when operating with a duplex load share system, by duplexing an ATM cell path with an active/standby or load share system by the cell buses. CONSTITUTION: Controllers(10a,10b) control an ATM system and a cell bus. UTOPIA(Universal Test and Operations Physical Interface for ATM) level2 interfaces(20a-20n) process ATM data with a UTOPIA level2. Cell buses(30a,30b) connect with the controllers(10a,10b) and the UTOPIA level2 interfaces(20a-20n) by the UTOPIA level2. The controllers(10a,10b) comprise as follows. System processors(11) control the ATM system. Cell bus routers(CUBIT_3)(23a-23n) are connected with the system processors(11) and the cell buses(30a,30b), and process with the UTOPIA level2. The UTOPIA level2 interfaces(20a-20n) comprise as follows. Interface processors(21a-21n) control cell bus routers(CUBIT_3)(23a-23n) of the UTOPIA level2 interfaces(21a-21n). The cell bus routers(CUBIT_3)(23a-23n) are controlled by the interface processors(21a-21n), and are connected to the cell buses(30a,30b) to perform UTOPIA level2 interfaces. Terminal device controllers(25a-25n) are connected to the cell bus routers(23a-23b), and control terminal devices.
