PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steelmaking method by which, in a refining process, molten metal, such as molten iron and molten steel, is not contaminated and heat can efficiently be added. SOLUTION: In the refining process, plastic consisting essentially of carbon and hydrogen and the other material for adjusting the specific gravity are charged at the substantially same position in a reaction vessel or a molten metal carrying vessel.
