METHOD FOR CONTROLLING MULTICHANNEL POWER IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for controlling a multichannel power in a wireless communication system is provided to effectively perform multistage power control to a plurality of channels by determining a level of a power control performed by an MS(Mobile Station) according to the number of supplemental channel assigned to the MS and storing the power control level in the MS. CONSTITUTION: When an origination call or a termination call is generated, an MS and a BS(Base Station) interconnects the call and sets a basic traffic channel(s10). The MS transmits a supplemental channel request message for requesting a plurality of supplemental channels necessary for providing a mass data service to a subscriber to the BS through the basic traffic channel(s20). The BS assigns one or more supplemental channels to the MS according to information of the number of supplemental channel and BS's own resource environment, and sets a level of a power control according to the number of the assigned supplemental channel(s30). The BS loads information of the set power control level in an supplemental channel assignment message for informing that supplemental channels are assigned, and transmits the supplemental channel assignment message to the MS through the basic traffic channel(s40). The MS stores the power control level according to information of the power control level and performs the power control according to the stored power control level and power control information received from the BS(s50).
