PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analog/digital converter with a small circuit scale and small analog/digital conversion error and to provide a solid-state image pickup device. SOLUTION: An integration circuit 10 integrates a current signal with a value in response to an incident light intensity in a photodiode PD and the integration circuit 10 outputs a voltage signal with the value in response to this current signal value. The voltage signal (analog value) outputted from the integration circuit 10 is given to an analog/digital conversion circuit 30 via a connection changeover circuit 20, the analog/digital converter circuit 30 converts the voltage signal into a digital value and outputs this digital value. An amplifier circuit 40 amplifies a residue in the analog/digital conversion processing, the amplified residue (analog value) is given to the analog/digital converter circuit 30 via the connection changeover circuit 20, the analog/digital conversion circuit 30 converts the amplified residue into a digital value (equivalent to low-order bits of the digital value outputted precedingly) and outputs the digital value.
