An armrest (10) for an office chair is mounted on the side of the seat back frame (24) at elbow height, via a support arm (11) attached to the seat back frame by a ratchet pivot (12, 13). The armrest can also be pivoted about a vertical axis (16) on the support arm for additional comfort. The inside of the armrest can have a storage space accessed by a tilt mounting for the top of the armrest.
