PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new azo compound suitable for an ink which not only gives a high-quality image having high image density and high vividness and free from indeterminate or irregular blotting on various types of plain papers but also gives an image undergoing little change in color on a coated paper, and which has good fixability and water resistance, does not cause clogging and is excellent in shelf stability, thermal stability and safety, a black dye composition containing the compound as the principal constituent, an ink containing the compound, and a method of an ink jet recording by using the ink, and a device using the ink. SOLUTION: The azo compound is represented by formula (A). The black dye composition contains the compound as the principal constituent. The ink contains a recording agent and a liquid medium for dissolving or dispersing it, wherein the recording agent contains the compound. The ink is used for an ink jet recording method. The ink is used for an ink jet recording device. |
