PURPOSE: A method and system for operating advance deposit accounts is provided to induct many Internet users into advance depositing by offering appointed interest as much as an advance-deposited period for advance-deposited money and providing additional interest according to the amount used in shopping. CONSTITUTION: If an Internet user accesses an electronic commerce web site and inputs his ID and password(300), the web server confirms whether the user is a member(301). In case that the Internet user is registered as member, the web server transfers the user ID to a CGI(Common Gateway Interface(304). If the user applies for the opening of an advance deposit account(305), a control part displays a screen to request him to select the maximum possible deposit amount. If the user selects the maximum possible deposit amount, his advance deposit account is opened as this information is transferred to a bank server(308). The user deposits cash or goods in his advance deposit account(308). If advance depositing is completed, an interest program computes interest for the advance-deposited amount according to an appointed interest rate(309). If the user selects a purchase article and settles the price of the article using the balance of his advance deposit account(310), additional interest is added to the balance of his advance deposit account according to the amount of settlement(311).
