PURPOSE: A CD-ROM drive interface for a notebook computer is provided so that quality of sound can be remarkably improved by preventing noise from being generated in audio signals by converting data transmission of the notebook computer and an external or removable CD-ROM drive into digital signal transmission resistant to noise. CONSTITUTION: A digital data read unit(21) of a CD-ROM drive(20) receives power and a control signal from an IDE bus control unit(11) of a notebook computer(10), and reads data from a CD-ROM. A data converting unit(22) of the CD-ROM drive(20) converts audio data read by the digital data read unit(21) into digital signals to be recognized by the notebook computer(10), and outputs a synchronous signal, a reset signal and a digital audio data according to an external clock signal. An audio processing unit(13) receives the digital audio data, converts the digital audio data into an analog audio signal, and mixes the analog audio signal with an external audio signal or adds an effect to the analog audio signal under the control of an audio control unit(12). An amplifier and speaker(14) amplifies the output signal from the audio processing unit(13) and reproducing sound. Accordingly, the signal transmitted from the CD-ROM drive(20) to the notebook computer(10) is not distorted due to noise.
