PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the depth of an iron tapping hole desirably in order to stably discharge tapped slag for a long time in good balance. SOLUTION: In the method for controlling the depth of the iron tapping hole in a blast furnace, plural kinds of muds different in melting characteristics to the molten iron are used to be changed in accordance with the depth of the iron tapping hole when the iron tapping hole in the blast furnace is plugged by pushing the mud.
