TRACKING CONTROL METHOD FOR OPTICAL DISK DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a simple and efficient method for stable reproducing of an optical disk having both of a standard track pitch and a track pitch narrower than the standard. SOLUTION: An optical disk reproducer detects the information on a track pitch by a track pitch detecting circuit 11 prior to tracking control using a tracking error signal 12. The device changes over a tracking error signal changeover circuit 9 according to the detected track pitch. As a result, even the optical disk in which the standard and the track pitch narrower than the standard exist may be subjected to the stable tracking control and the reproducing of the recording signals is made possible.
