The lock to hold the free end of a chain, at a chain pulley (1) system with round steel chains, has a housing (2) with a cross-shaped chain channel (11) at least open to the under side (10) to take the links of the chain (4). Two pairs of cylindrical drillings (14,14') are in the housing, to take inserted locking bolts, at a level between the end link and the third link from the end, to pass through both sides the second link from the end.
