PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing a silver halide photographic sensitive material in which good stability of running processing, good deposition resistance of a processing solution and excellence in silver tone are ensured and the generation of sludge is suppressed. SOLUTION: In the processing method in which a silver halide photographic sensitive material with a silver halide photographic emulsion layer on the base is processed in an automatic processing machine with at least a developing solution, a fixing solution and washing water, the opening ratio (opening area to volume) of each of a developing tank and a chemical mixer tank which supplies a development replenisher solution is <0.01, the developing solution contains reductones and the silver halide photographic emulsion layer contains flat plate-like photosensitive silver halide grains having an aspect ratio of >=8.
